Macclesfield Potato Riot 13th April 2017: ArtSpace needs You!

This is the page for up to date information on how to get involved with this years’ Potato riot re-enactment and feast. Click on the coloured links to get to more detailed information.

ArtSpace needs you to get involved!

We need lots more people to help, both in advance and on the day itself:

actors, prop and set makers, musicians, publicity people and lots of folk to set up for the feast and the re-enactment, and to staff both parts of the event.

We particularly need someone to oversee all the electrical aspects of the event, please email us MaccCommArtSpace@mail.com if you can help.

We also need many more community actors: Here is a message from our theatre director:

If you love acting or telling stories, have never acted but think you might enjoy it or like wearing old costumes and having fun, then please get in touch! Sam Redway an international award-winning theatre maker is looking for people to take part in the Macclesfield Potato Riot re-enactment. There is something for everyone: anything from taking on a lead character to being part of the rioting crowd, from narrators to men dressing as ladies! If you have something to say about Macclesfield, the UK, Europe or the world we want to hear from you!

Please send Sam an email, today, on mail@sam-redway.co.uk telling him 1) if you would like to be a crowd member, a speaking part or a lead character and 2) what you would want to talk about at a riot! The more the merrier!

The first Actors’ workshop is on Saturday 11th February at 10:30am @ Macclesfield Library.

Potato Riot Tuesdays are now in full swing, Drop in between 12 noon and 9 pm, to meet people, have a cuppa, make stuff, share ideas, bring donated resources and work on potato riot sets, props and costumes, using the space, materials, tools and computers.

The next open meeting is at Artspace on Tuesday 7th February  7:00pm – 8:30. There’s lots to catch up on and lots to plan so hope to see you all there. Feel free to invite anyone along.

See our potato riot event page  for background information.

Or visit the dedicated Macclesfield Potato Riot Website to find out more.
