Chinese new year event: 2nd Feb 2019

ArtSpacers are making several contributions to the Town Council’s Chinese New Year event this Saturday February 2nd.  Janet and her team have made a Giant Pig (for the Chinese year of the pig) and a Dragon for the Parade.  They will leave the Market Place at 11:45 and parade down to the United Reformed Church.

Meanwhile two of our Print Mill artists Jacki and Becca, have worked  with local schools on two art installations “A Whisper of Moths” and “Great Wall of Friendship”   The installations will be on view in the URC after the parade, where from 12 noon there will also be free stuff going on, music workshops, tasting of Chinese food, and arts and crafts.  Please come and look at all the lovely stuff.

Everyone is most welcome to join in the parade.

Parade briefing from the Town Council:

  • Arrive outside the Town Hall at 11:30
  • Parade will set off for the URC, Park Green at 11:45
  • All children in the parade MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times

  1. Hi there, we’ve not been to art space yet – I just wondered if there are any activities over the summer holiday suitable for my 6 year old son and myself? Thanks, Liz Wood

    • Hi Elizabeth

This year we’re not running formal holiday art activity workshops, instead we are including activities in our Creative Tuesday drop in sessions.
we’re open from 12 noon till 9pm on Tuesdays.
You are welcome to drop in any time we are open(check the opening times page on here for August opening times), and do your own thing, or there will be an activity available on Tuesday afternoons: last week we made musical instruments from Junk, this Tuesday (4th August) fabric and sewing activities are going on, however the Junk instrument making will still be available.
ArtSpace is free, however if you can make a donation towards materials it is greatly appreciated.

      Jane on behalf of ArtSpace.
