This group meets every 6 weeks or so at 7.30 on a Monday evening. Each meeting we have a word or theme and we’ll look at art works we’ve found that relate to it – the discussions often wander off onto related (or less-related!) paths.
We’ve found ourselves meandering through history, sociology, politics, religion, all fortified by tea and biscuits. It’s a place for questions as much as answers – no one’s an expert but we all bring our own ideas and experiences and it’s a bracing way to spend a Monday evening.
We’ve love to welcome more people, whether you’re a one-off dropper-in or you become a hard-core regular. Come and dip in to the next one:
Next meeting: 7.30 pm on Monday, April 23rd
Our last couple of Art Appreciation sessions have had quite heavy subject matter so there was a plea for something involving humour. Happy to oblige! As a group, we thought ‘Humour’ might just end up being cartoons so, slightly meanly, we’ve banned cartoons as examples. Instead maybe choose a work that you feel has a bit of wit, that makes you smile or that you simply find joyful or uplifting. Plenty of scope there we hope! If you’d like to join us for an uplifting evening then please come along at 7.30 pm on Monday, April 23rd. Bring a piece of work (on a memory stick or in a book) if you can, but if not just come along anyway and see what everyone else has got.
All thoughts and opinions welcome and worth airing! If you want to send us pictures in advance then email them to Patty (email@example.com)
