Next Session of Art of Astrology at ArtSpace Tomorrow, Monday 9th November 2 till 4pm

We will be exploring our birth charts and horoscopes through art.  The first session will be expressed the qualities of our Sun signs.

These workshops are suitable for experienced and complete beginners to Astrology or Art.

The workshops will follow a pattern of a brief introduction to the Astrological subject and the connection with each person’s chart followed by plenty of time to create.

Participants will have free choice of materials available at Artspace or may bring your own.

This course is led by Deborah Maw, a qualified Astrological Counsellor of 20 years, teacher and artist.

Free to Friends of Artspace

The sessions are free, but a donation to Artspace is appreciated.

Sessions will be held at roughly monthly intervals: the next session will be on Monday 9th November from 2 till 4pm

For further information, contact Deborah on deborahmaw@hotmail.co.uk, or on 07949965842

Letters from Father Christmas & Mother Christmas

Macclesfield Community ArtSpace has secured an agreement with Father Christmas and his family. They will reply to your letters if you donate £4 to ArtSpace.

What you need to do

  1. Write a letter to Father Christmas or Mother Christmas or any of the elves or fairies – by post to ArtSpace or drop it off (click here for our address).
  1. Make sure there’s a cheque in there for at least £4 made out to Macclesfield Community ArtSpace – or cash if you’re calling in person.

(ArtSpace will pass on your letter to Father Christmas and Mother Christmas when they call round for tea and cake).

  1. Wait to receive a personal, handwritten reply from Father and Mother Christmas. (You can also write to any of the elves or fairies or reindeer).

(Letters will be available to collect from ArtSpace or they can be posted to you as long as you give your full postal address, and this is free for Macclesfield addresses ).

PARENTS & GUARDIANS:

  1. Letters can be emailed (for an email reply) – if you use this facility please let us know how you will pay – you may wish to use the donate facility on our website).
  2. Let us know if you would like the specific make-up of your family reflected in any way in the reply to your child, e.g. contributions from Chief Elf and his husband or Fairy Elise who uses a wheelchair.
  3. You can also let us know anything else you would like covered (or any special family circumstances of which we should be aware) – no guarantees though as we are only intermediaries and our contract is with Father Christmas.
  4. If you know any children who would find it impossible to come up with £4 please let us know and we’ll see what we can do – on instructions from Father Christmas, of course!

Winter SketchCrawl from 12 noon in St Michael and All Angels Church

Sketchcrawl takes place on Treacle Sunday, the last Sunday of the month.

For the inclement winter months, the lovely people at the parish church in the Market Place have offered to host SketchCrawl in their warm and welcoming space.

Meet after the morning service, from 12 noon in St Michael and All Angels Church in the Market Place:  bring your own sketch book or borrow one of ours.  The next on is November 29th 2015 –  Patty will meet you in the Church café area at 12 noon.

If you want to come along later just look out for people drawing and they can direct you to Patty who will have sketchpads and pencils for anyone who just rocks up on the day and fancies having a go.

People can roam round the whole market and draw whatever takes their fancy, either lots of quick sketches or a more sustained drawing.

We usually gather together later and go for a brew and a ‘show and tell’.  It’s good fun to chat about what everyone has done and compare notes and most people enjoy that social side of it.  The whole session is very friendly and informal – why not come along and have a go?

A new way to help keep ArtSpace open – our GoGetFunding Page

ArtSpace is made possible by our lovely supporters who give their time to volunteer at ArtSpace.

Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. We are an entirely volunteer run organisation and work hard to raise money to keep going. We run a Friends of ArtSpace Scheme for regular donors

However it is now possible to make a one-off donation . Help someone find company, confidence and creativity. Art is for Everyone!

ArtSpace Christmas Tree for the URC Festival

This competition is now closed – results follow soon 🙂

The URC church (opposite Wetherspoons) in Macclesfield holds a Christmas tree festival each year and ArtSpace has been invited to submit an entry this year. They liked our unusual design of robins on a snow covered wizened tree last year and would like us to come up with something equally creative. We’d like people to submit design ideas (be as creative as you like) for a decorated tree and then we’ll choose one. Our choice will be based on:

a) unusual design
b) availability of materials (cost effectiveness)
c) our ability to make the design into a 3d object at ArtSpace

A diamond encrusted platinum cone with gold and silver decorations might qualify as an unusual design but sadly would not get past criteria b and c! So think carefully about your design.

Once we have the design ideas and have chosen we will start making and want to involve as many people as possible in the process. It may be that a couple of people create the tree and others create decorations.

Time is short. The festival is open for viewing from 10:00am on Weds 9th December until Sunday 13th December
The set set up day is Tuesday 8th December. So we need your design to be in by Tuesday 10th November.

What we need – a sketch (we won’t judge your drawing skills) of your tree design with notes about the materials used, colours and decorations.

* It must be a decorated tree or an interpretation of a tree of some sort.
* It must somehow relate to Christmas.
* Max 2mtrs tall and 1mtr wide.

Your design idea must be with us by 9:00pm on Tuesday 10th November. Drop your design into the Digital Art Room at ArtSpace, give it to an ArtSpace volunteer, e-mail it to sambajohn1@yahoo.com

For further information call John on 07522 019454 or e-mail sambajohn1@yahoo.com or see any ArtSpace volunteer.
