Digital Arts Project

Incredible Digital Day: Monday 7th December 3-9pm @ ArtSpace

Macclesfield Community Artspace is adding a whole load of possibilities to the arts activities already on offer:  we are launching our Digital Arts Project – and you are welcome to join in for free!

We are creating a Digital Art Room with computers, copiers, software and scanners to allow you to play around with photography, produce pictures and posters and learn more about how to use digital resources for creativity.

Generation Arts will be a series of regular sessions for all ages and abilities, to enable and encourage us to learn from each other. We’d love to have you along. To launch these sessions and find out what people want we will be open on: Monday 7th December 3 – 9p.m.

Whether you have never switched on a computer, or need to fine tune your digital skills, come along to meet our experts and volunteers, and have a go in our newly equipped Digital Art room.  There will opportunities to play with photographs, text, graphic design, and more.

There will also be a chance to tell us what you would like out of the group and what you can offer.

With funding support from

The aims of the project are:

  • to enhance the lives of people in the Macclesfield community,
  • to encourage people who are isolated and excluded to meet and work together,
  • to help isolated or excluded people get involved in art, develop skills and confidence in mixing with others.

The project will make digital arts activities available to people using the ArtSpace facilities at any time, and pilot a weekly term-time activity aimed at young people out of school and older people (to benefit from cross generational mixing, support and skill-sharing).

Sorry no Sketchcrawl @ The Treacle Market Sunday 25th October

Unfortunately there is no official Sketch Crawl this Sunday,  Sorry for the short notice.

We are taking a break for a few months, restarting in March.

We meet near the Town Hall at about 11 am but if you like a lie-in and want to come along later just look out for people drawing and they can direct you to Patty who will have sketchpads and pencils for anyone who just rocks up on the day and fancies having a go.

People can roam round the whole market and draw whatever takes their fancy, either lots of quick sketches or a more sustained drawing.

We usually gather together later and go for a brew and a ‘show and tell’.  It’s good fun to chat about what everyone has done and compare notes and most people enjoy that social side of it.  The whole session is very friendly and informal – why not come along and have a go?

Tuesday 20th October celebrating 2 Years at the Mill and Launching Space 2016 Barnaby Parade

This Tuesday 20th October, at 7pm we’re celebrating our second birthday at the mill and launching our activities for next June’s Barnaby Parade on the theme of Space.

Come along to ArtSpace and see how you or your group can get involved both in the 2016 parade and in other ArtSpace projects and activities.

We need input in many different areas.  We want to inspire you and be inspired by you.  We are starting to work on ideas for costumes and “floats” and making a wish list of materials that will be needed such as “spacey” fabrics.

Come and have a chat over a drink and piece of cake.

A special plea from John our parade leader

“I build carnival floats for the Macclesfield Barnaby Festival parade.
I want to build bigger and better so I’m looking for an electric powered vehicle to pull a lightweight trailer float. Old golf buggy or works vehicle. It only needs to work for one day per year and not at all worried about appearance. Any ideas anyone?”
